Loneliness 2026 Part 2
I have completed the painting, as well as the second part of the video documenting the creative process.
It has been a long journey to reach the final result. The length of the video reveals only a small portion of the time I dedicated to this work. Pointillism requires patience.
Throughout the process, I went through various stages of layering and refining colours and forms. In the video, you can observe these different stages and transformations.

I carefully considered the colour combinations and decided to create a slightly cooler background and atmosphere, allowing it to contrast with the key elements of the composition. I placed particular emphasis on the faces, the hands of the figures, and the gift box resting in the lap of the elderly figure.
The relationship between colours was especially important to me, as colours naturally interact with one another in the physical world. Contrast plays a crucial role in shaping the visual impact and guiding the viewer’s attention within the composition.
Although the figures may appear calm, I intended for them to carry an underlying sense of tension and emotional presence. The richness of the coloured dots creates the optical perception of complex tones — one of the fundamental methods of building tone in pointillism.
I now consider the painting complete. Perhaps the most difficult task for any artist is knowing when to stop. I can still see many areas that could be developed further, yet I chose to pause. There was an inner conflict about the right moment to stop, but ultimately, I trusted my intuition.
Each viewer will discover something different in this painting — whatever they are able, or wish, to find.
Thank you for your time and interest.
